STRATFORD TOWN NAMES NEW BOSS.
There was a good start to life in Football Management for Morton Titterton the newly appointed boss of Baker Joiner Midlands Alliance league side Stratford Town on Saturday afternoon following a 1-0 win against Friar Lane. Morton was able to add some fresh faces to the squad in a very short space of time since his appointment as Rod Brown's successor. A large crowd of nearly 200 supporters at the DCS Stadium gave new manager Morton a warm welcome before the league match against Friar Lane & Epworth and a rousing cheer at the end after the club had sealed a 1-0 win courtesy of Youth Team prodigy Chris Reeves, who netted the only goal of the game on the hour-mark. Town had suffered a very disappointing and inconsistent start to their league campaign under Rod Brown with FA Cup defeat at Tipton Town ultimately costing Rod Brown his Job. However, Town Chairman Craig Hughes acted swiftly in bring in Brown's replacement naming Morton Titterton as the New boss. Speaking about his appointed Morton Titterton said ‘I’m thankful for the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to the challenge. I’m really excited about the opportunity of working at a progressive club in my first Management appointment.’

Town Chairman Craig Hughes explained, ‘I’m really pleased with the appointment. I’ve known Morton for many years and his experience and knowledge of the non-league circuit and the players associate with that will be a real asset adding ‘And maybe he has a special affinity to Stratford Town, as it was his first club when he left Wolves as a youngster before playing for clubs including Hinckley United, Solihull and Leamington, This is a tough transitional period for him to get the team he wants and the commitment he will demand and to bring in the required players.’ He concluded, ‘We are very lucky to have a great set of supporters and I know you will give Morton all the support he needs over the next few weeks, and I am very confident with your support and patience, he will turn things around.’ But one thing that stands out is Town's chairman Hughes unlike some of his non league counterparts is not the sort of chairman to wield and deal the axe indeed he is the first to acknowledge that some managers which have occupied the Stratford Town hot-seat have been given longer in their jobs that they would have received at many other clubs. Morton worked alongside Jason Cadden at Leamington during the clubs successful promotion campaigns, However, this is Morton's first Managerial role as Manager on the Non League circuit. Morton has not yet named his Assistant or any backroom staff. Town travel on Tuesday night at Malvern and Morton will be hoping that some of the players that were unavailable for selection on Saturday will be available for the midweek trip. Town Supporters will be hoping Morton can kick start their league campaigns and with it bring back some much sought after silverware not seen since the heydays at Mason's Road or the Lenny Derby Era when the club clinched the Polymac Services League Cup on two occasions.

NEW DEAL HELPS RACING CLUB WARWICK
The future now looks to be allot brighter for former Dr Martens Southern League Club Racing Club Warwick after the Warwickshire club signed a sponsorship deal with local side Baxi. The Racers have ditched their familiar old gold shirts in favour of their club's original Orange colours after heating firm agreed to provide the Midland Combination Premier side with home and away strips in addition to training kit for the 2010/11 season. Manager Ryan Cranton believes the link-up with the local firm, which has a major presence in the town, is another positive step for the resurgent Midlands Combination Football Club. "Getting a new kit was a must. The kits were worn out and shirts were missing," said Cranton."The sponsorship with Baxi ensures we have a new kit for the season and will in turn help attract new players. It's all about proving we're got the things behind the scenes right." Mark Kelly, CEO of the Baxi Group, said: "As a local company, we are delighted to support a local club like Racing Club Warwick, which encourages people to both participates in and enjoys watching sport." Racing Club Warwick have penciled in their pre-season friendlies, with their first four encounters set to take place away from their Townsend Meadow headquarters. They kick off at Desford on Saturday July 10 and follow it up with trips to Coton Green seven days later Saturday July 17th, West Midland Police Saturday July 24th and Stockton Saturday July 29th before completing their preparations with a home clash against Studley on Saturday July 31st.

BONES RECONSTRUCTED
Rothwell Town have pulled out of the Southern League due to financial constrains and will play in the Hereward Teamwear United Counties League First Division. Rothwell Town will be under the guidance of former manager Dave Williams on their return to the league to the United Counties Football League. 46 year old Williams spent three years in charge at Cecil Street from November 2003 to November 2006 when the Bones played in the Southern League. Williams brings an abundance of managerial experience to the post, having spent four years in command of Shepshed Dynamo, while more recently he took the Desborough reins from June 2008 to September 2009. Williams will be joined by Stuart Spencer, who was a member of the Bones playing staff in the previous Williams era, Spencer joins from Midland Alliance club Oadby Town as player coach while Frank Benjamin will also return to the Northamptonshire club as they look forward to restructuring their fortunes, as Assistant Manager to Williams..

Williams replaces Rob Dunion whose rein in charge end with him becoming the first recipient of the Kettering Evening Telegraph's "Derek Waugh Memorial Shield" .And that was one of the main reasons Dunion was chosen for the newly-installed award by the Evening Telegraph sports writers was the fact his Bones' side played their final nine games inside the last 14 days. Sports editor Jim Lyon explained: "Our colleague Derek unfortunately passed away last year.We wanted to create a way of remembering him and marking the 33 years he dedicated to covering football in Northamptonshire. He was such a well-known and popular figure in the local game that it only seemed right, we used his memory to each season reward someone we felt had made an outstanding contribution. Derek was someone who liked football to be played in the right way and in the right spirit. He also loved the game's characters. He liked people who provided as much entertainment off the field as they did on it."With that in mind this award will not just consider the performances and trophies but also service and attitude.Rob's attitude this season has been amazing. It has been an extremely tough time for Rothwell. He had them challenging at the top of the table earlier in the season before financial problems hit the club. Since then he has still managed to guide through the season despite every possible type of obstacle being thrown into his path. His dedication to the cause and his ability to greet each challenge with good humour makes him the outstanding candidate to be the first winner of what is a very special prize to all of us on the Evening Telegraph sports desk."

On receiving the award, Dunion confessed to being a proud man."I'm honoured," he admitted."I'm just about speechless – for the first time ever! - Having known Derek well for so many years it is really is a lovely award to get. We go back a long way I was just a young lad playing for Corby – probably around the late 1970s – when we first met so it means a lot to get this. It's been a difficult season for us, and sometimes you think maybe your efforts don't get noticed. However, you keep smiling and getting on with your job and doing the best you can. As I say, I'm really honoured." Dunion topped a shortlist of five contenders for the award. The others considered to have made outstanding contributions during the 2009/10 season were Rushden & Diamonds manager Justin Edinburgh, Irchester boss Daren Young, Corby Town striker Leon Mettam and Diamonds forward Lee Tomlin.

SOUTHAM UNIED APPOINT DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Southam United have signified their intent to clime the Non League Pyramid with the appointed of Jason Withe as the Clubs first Football Director at Banbury Road.

Withe, who had been helping out with pre-season training at Combination rivals Racing Club Warwick, undertakes a new role at Banbury Road that will include of all aspects of the club's football pursuits from the junior sections right through to the first team affairs. Withe, the son of form Aston Villa striker Peter, turned out for West Bromwich Albion and Burnley among a number of professional clubs, as well Telford United and Stafford Rangers on the non league scene. After relinquishing his boots Withe embarked on a far reaching coaching career, taking in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, and is currently a Football Association educator, bearing qualifications to promising coaches. However, having moved into the Warwickshire area earlier in the year, Withe was keen on get involved with a club close to his Warwick base.

"I contacted the Southam chairman when I read of Barry Shearsby's departure," said Withe "Although I offered to help out at Racing Club after meeting up with manager Ryan Cranton at a coaching course, I was looking for something more permanent to which I could put my experience to good use. I have a lot of contacts, both in the professional game and the non-league set up, and will be looking to bring a number of local players to the club."

Withe will work along-side first-team manager Luke Fogarty to achieve the instantaneous promotion chairman Charles Hill sees as mandatory to his aspirations of turning the club into a serious force within non-league football. The appointment has been saluted by Fogarty, who stepped up into the Banbury Road hot-seat having been Shearsby number two last season. Fogarty revealed "It's a big step forward for the club. Having someone with Jason's background will be a great learning experience for everyone and the players are really looking forward to it."

Meantime Saints will be fielding a Younger generation team in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Eastern Division this season, these are exciting times for a club that has at no time advanced beyond step 6 in its 105-year history. Hill said: "We have set out our development plan and agreement with Jason that will see the new youth team become a full-time academy side linked to the launch of a post-academy reserve side for 18 to 21-year-olds "On top of this, we want to see the first team flourish as it is our shop window and provides an opportunity for those youngsters coming through the new academy set-up to progress in non-league football and beyond" Hill is known to be working on a financial plan that would see Saints develop their Banbury Road facilities to match their playing ambitions. Hill anticipates making an statement within the next two months along with public consultation on plans for the ground.
